Korea LCI DB Information Network: LCI DB is the basic data to calculate the environmental performance and impact of a product, and KEITI has developed the LCI DB according to ISO 14044.

Purpose

  • According to the process of ISO 14044, Korea LCI DB has been developed and organized and helped the calculation and estimation of environmental performance and impact.

Progress

  • December 1998 ~ December 2001
    • As national standard environmental performance information establishment project, LCI DB was established for national infrastructure industry and basic materials.
  • October 2002 ~ July 2003
    • For standardization and development of LCI DB, LCI DB Standard Guideline and data format standardization by materials were developed.
  • July 2002 ~ Present
    • Conducted the revision of LCI DB and software distribution
  • *The revision and new establishment of LCI DB is conducted annually.

Definition

  • LCI DB is a listed data of materials (including resources, energy, minerals extracted from the environment) put into the production system, and emission and waste to air or water(from production system to the environment) for manufacturing a function unit of product.
  • LCI DB is used as basic data to conduct life cycle assessment of a product.(Korea’s LCI DB and carbon emission factors shall not be used for commercial aim.)

  • LCI DB of Energy & mineral resources is used for Abiotic Depletion Potential, emission to air for Global Warming Potential, Ozone Depletion Potential, Acidification Potential and Photochemical Ozone Creation Potential, emission to water for Eutrophication Potential.
